Central Command Area of Responsibility  (Apr. 8, 2003) -- Aboard the U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75), a 54 caliber MK-45 five-inch lightweight gun provides surface combatants accurate naval gunfire against fast, highly maneuverable surface targets, air threats and shore targets during amphibious operations. Donald Cook is deployed conducting missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Operation Iraqi Freedom is the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.  U.S. Navy photo by Chief Journalist Alan J.
