NORFOLK, Va. (Aug. 1, 2007) - Family and friends wave goodbye to
Sailors assigned to guided missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) as the
ship departs Naval Station Norfolk on a scheduled deployment to conduct
maritime operations (MO) in support of the ongoing rotation of
forward-deployed forces. The Kearsarge Expeditionary Strike Group
consists of Porter, the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3),
the amphibious transport ship USS Ponce (LPD 15), the guided missile
frigate USS Carr (FFG 52), the guided missile cruiser USS Vicksburg (CG
69), the attack submarine USS Miami (SSN 755) and the dock landing ship
