Boston, Mass. (Nov. 9, 2002) -- Sailors assigned to the newly commissioned destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) man the rails as the guided-missile destroyer is “brought to life” and into naval service. The ship and her crew will undergo a year of sea trials before making an initial deployment. Preble is the 64th Aegis-class warship to be commissioned during a traditional Navy ceremony in South Boston's Commonwealth Pier.
