Pacific Ocean (Feb. 23, 2003) -- A MK-32 Mod 15 Surface Vessel Torpedo Tube (SVTT) fires a MK-46 Mod 5 lightweight torpedo from the port side of the recently commissioned guided missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88), during a Combat Systems Ship Qualification Test (CSSQT).  The MK-46 torpedo is designed to attack high performance submarines, and is considered the backbone of the Navy’s Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) inventory.  USS Preble was commissioned Nov. 9, 2002, and is homeported in San Diego, Calif.
