VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (July 20, 2009) -- Sailors aboard the
guided-missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94) participate in the fleet
synthetic training event Operation Bold Spectrum. Operation Bold
Spectrum involves the 2nd Fleet Maritime Operations Center, the staffs
of two carrier strike groups, an amphibious ready group staff and 21
ships. Participants also include U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard
units, and German naval personnel participating from a shore-based
