Mayport, FL (Dec. 7, 2006) -- Guests from various Veterans' Organizations in the Jacksonville area, including Pearl Harbor survivors, went underway with USS Farragut (DDG 99) for the 65th annual Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony. One Hundred and sixty-four veterans gathered on the flight deck of the Farragut for a wreath-laying ceremony during a memorial service in memory of those fallen shipmates lost during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Veterans gently released flowers overboard in remembrance of shipmates and loved ones lost during the attack. Sailors assigned to the Farragut additionally, performed a burial at sea ceremony for eight deceased Pearl Harbor Veterans.
