Pacific Ocean (Sept. 4, 2004) -- The guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes (CG 49) and the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) steam side-by-side as they perform a replenishment-at-sea (RAS). Although not a replenishment ship, Kitty Hawk has the capability to provide other ships with supplies and fuel.  Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Vincennes and Kitty Hawk demonstrate power projection and sea control as part of the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed Carrier Strike Group (CSG), operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
