CHANGI NAVAL BASE, SINGAPORE - The USS LOS ANGELES, (SSN-688),
completes a training maneuver off the coast of Singapore.
Singaporean and US Navy ships participated in a war at sea exercise as
part of the seventh annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training
(CARAT) eExercise. CARAT, a series of bilateral exercises, takes
place throughout the Western Pacific each summer. It aims to
increase regional cooperation and promote interoperability with each
country. The countries participating in CARAT 2001 are
Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Brunei.
