Pacific Ocean (April 27, 2005) - The Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Jefferson City (SSN 759) underway near San Diego Harbor after conducting routine operations in the Pacific Ocean. Fast attack submarines are designed to seek and destroy enemy submarines and surface ships. Their primary mission is to counter the treat of modern state-of-the-art non-nuclear submarines.
