Mediterranean Sea (Jan. 23, 2003) -- An aerial view of the U.S. Navy guided missile cruiser USS San Jacinto (CG 56).  Cruisers perform primarily in a Battle Force role. These ships are multi-mission surface combatants capable of supporting carrier battle groups, amphibious forces, or operate independently and as flagships of surface action groups.  San Jacinto is assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) battle group and is currently on a six-month deployment in support of U.S. national interests and Operation Enduring Freedom.  U.S. Navy Photo by Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Christopher Stoltz.  (RELEASED)
