A Tomahawk cruise missile is launched from the USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) in a strike against al Qaeda terrorist training camps and military installations of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan on Oct. 7, 2001.  The carefully targeted actions are designed to disrupt the use of Afghanistan as a base for terrorist operations and to attack the military capability of the Taliban regime.  The USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) is steaming at sea as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.  U.S. Navy Photo by Photographer's Mate Master Chief Terry Cosgrove.  (RELEASED)
