Persian Gulf (Jan. 15, 2005) -- The he guided missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) patrols the waters of the Arabian Gulf providing support as plane guard for the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Monterey is assigned to Carrier Strike Group Ten (CSG 10) and is currently on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
