Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, Calif. (Jun. 12, 2003) -- The Aegis-class cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67) departs Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Seal Beach after taking on stores and munitions.  NWS Seal Beach serves as the Navy's primary West Coast ordnance storage, loading and maintenance location.  An average of 80 vessels visit NWS Seal Beach each year to receive and offload various weapons, ammunition, and countermeasure devices.  A 1,000 foot wharf can accommodate cruisers, destroyers, frigates and some amphibious class ships, while larger ships can be serviced at a protected explosive anchorage, located at the nearby Long Beach Harbor.  U.S. Navy photo by Journalist 2nd Class Brian Brannon.  (RELEASED)
