Norfolk, Va. (October 3, 2006) -- Sailors prepare to man-the-rails as families and friends watch.  The guided-missile cruiser USS Anzio (CG 68) gets underway today as part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (IKE ESG) in support of the on-going rotation of forward-deployed forces.   IKE ESG is commanded by Rear Adm. Allen G. Myers, Commander, Carrier Strike Group 8 (CCSG 8), and includes the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), with its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7, embarked Destroyer Squadron (CDS) Twenty-Eight, guided-missile cruiser USS Anzio (CG 68), guided-missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG 61), guided missile-destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) along with the fast attack submarine USS Newport News (SSN 750), all homeported in Norfolk.
