Homer, Alaska (Aug. 12, 2005) -- U.S. Navy guided missile frigate USS
Crommelin (FFG 37) arrives in Alaska for a port visit prior to
participating in Northern Edge/Alaska Shield 2005. Alaska
Shield/Northern Edge '05 is the largest homeland defense/security
exercise ever conducted in Alaska. This exercise is the first
opportunity within the state to integrate local, state and federal
government response to a series of simulated emergencies including
natural disasters, terrorist attacks and mass casualty scenarios. U.S.
