PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 7, 2007) -- The Phalanx close-in weapon system fires nearly 75 rounds per second during a training exercise aboard amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1). Tarawa left her homeport of San Diego on Nov. 5 with embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit on a scheduled deployment to the Western Pacific in support of maritime security operations and the global war on terrorism.
