USS Belleau Wood  (LHA 3) Mar. 27, 2002 -- A contractor from National Steel and Shipping Company (NASSCO) hydro-blasts the ship's screws as part of a preservation program for the ship's hull.  USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3) is currently in dry dock after returning from a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  The 40,000-ton Navy vessel is the lead element of a three-ship Amphibious Readiness Group (ARG).  Belleau Wood carries a crew of 1,000 Sailors and more than 2,000 Marines.  U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Erika Jones.  (RELEASED)
