Naval Station Norfolk, Va. (May 29, 2003) -- The amphibious assault
ship USS Nassau (LHA 4) returns to its homeport of Norfolk.
Nassau is completing an extended deployment which lasted nine months in
the Arabian Gulf where the ship and crew supported Operations Enduring
Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Operation Iraqi Freedom is
the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people,
eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of
