PACIFIC OCEAN (June 13, 2010) -- The amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) transits past the island of Peleliu, rendering honors to the island and the historic battle for which the ship is named. The Battle of Peleliu was one of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific during World War II, with eight Medal of Honor recipients.
