Aboard USS Wasp (LHD 1) Aug. 15, 2002 -- Sailors assigned to the ship's
deck department lay a fresh coat of paint on the bow of the amphibious
assault ship. The deck department spent much of their liberty
time in Marmaris, Turkey, and Rota, Spain, preparing the ship for a
Norfolk, Va. homecoming in September. The Wasp Amphibious Ready
Group (ARG) and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) are nearing
the end of a scheduled six-month deployment, and have been conducting
missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. U.S. Navy
