Atlantic Ocean (Nov. 19, 2005) -- The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) steams along the East Coast during U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey flight operations. Wasp is currently heat-testing the durability and stability of the flight deck nonskid surface during MV-22B Osprey operations. The MV-22B is an advanced technology, vertical/short takeoff and landing (VSTOL) multipurpose tactical aircraft, and is scheduled to replace the aging CH-46E Sea Knight and the CH-53D Sea Stallion helicopters currently in service.
