Apra Harbor, Guam (Feb. 9,2006) -- The amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) moored together in Guam to load elements of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). The three-ship, Sasebo-based forward deployed amphibious ready group consisting of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Essex (LHD 2), amphibious dock landing ship USS Juneau (LPD 10) and Harpers Ferry are underway for Spring Patrol.
