SASEBO, Japan (July 2, 2007) -- USS Essex (LHD 2) is anchored in the
Pacific Ocean before leaving Australia for exercise Talisman Saber 2007
(TS07). This biennial exercise is designed to enhance the combat
readiness and interoperability between Australia and U.S. military
forces in support of the global war on terrorism. TS07 is the largest
combined training exercise in the region consisting of more than 7,500
Australian and 20,000 U.S. personal conducting land sea and air
