Arabian Gulf (July 7, 2004) -- Sailors and Marines prepare for flight
operations aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to
transport elements of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to the
Kuwait Naval Base, as amphibious assault ship USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3)
steams in the distance. Kearsarge is surge deployed to transport
elements of the 24th MEU to the Central Command Area of Responsibility
in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and the global war on
