Gulf of Mexico (Aug. 29, 2005) -- Three MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopters from Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fifteen (HM-15), stationed at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas, arrived aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) to provided anticipated support to victims of Hurricane Katrina, led by the Department of Defense, in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Bataan has been tasked to be the Maritime Disaster Relief Coordinator for the Navy's role in the relief efforts.  The MH-53E Sea Dragon is capable of carrying 55 passengers and 16 tons of cargo, with a maximum range of 1050 nautical miles.
