U.S. 5th FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (Sept. 5, 2009) -- The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) takes position in formation behind the Royal Navy fleet auxiliary ship Lyme Bay (L 3007) and beside the mine countermeasures ships USS Gladiator (MCM 11) and USS Ardent (MCM 12). The ships are conducting a mine countermeasure exercise.
