At sea aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) Jan. 19, 2003 -- LAVs (Light
Armored Vehicles) are among the vehicles transportable from ship to
shore aboard an LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) well deck such as this
one carried aboard USS Bonhomme Richard. The LAVsÕ primary
function is to reach and engage any threat and the effective use of
firepower to defeat soft and armored targets on any battlefield.
Bonhomme Richard and Amphibious Task Force West (ATF-W) are deployed in
