PERSIAN GULF (Aug. 5, 2007) -- Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) (BHR) take part in a fish call off the ship's stern gate. Fish call was sponsored by BHR's Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) aimed at providing some fun and a break from routine. The BHR Expeditionary Strike Group is operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of Operations and will be conducting Maritime Operations (MO). U.S. and coalition forces conduct MO to help set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment, as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. These operations seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other materials.
