Souda Bay, Crete, Greece (Jan. 12, 2006) -- The U.S. Navy High-Speed Vessel, Swift (HSV-2) heads to sea following a brief port visit.  Swift is assigned to Commander Mine Warfare Command (COMINEWARCOM) Ingleside, Texas and is operated by two rotating 42-person crews. A Gold-crew, based at Little Creek, Va. concentrates on expeditionary missions while a Blue-crew from Ingleside, focuses on mine warfare. At 321 feet, Swift has a top speed of almost 50 knots. The catamaran's aluminum hulls draw only about 11 feet of water, making the ship ideal for missions in shallow coastal regions. U.S. Navy photo by Mr. Paul Farley (RELEASED)
