The Atlantic Ocean (Jun. 28, 2003) -- Assault Craft Unit Four (ACU-4)
"Hopper 27" transports the Second Marine Expeditionary Brigade's (2nd
MEB) equipment embarked aboard USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to Onslow Bay,
N.C. Kearsarge and 2nd MEB are on their way home from a
successful deployment. The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship
participated in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom,
and provided support to the President of the United States during his
summits with the Arab leaders in Egypt and Jordan. Kearsarge was also
extended on deployment when directed to prepare for possible support to
Operation Shinning Express in Western Africa. Kearsarge is scheduled to
arrive at their homeport of Naval Station Norfolk on June 30. U.S. Navy
