Iwo Jima, Japan (March 13, 2007) Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) 63, launched from USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49), approaches the coast of Iwo Jima, moving past a historic piece of the Battle of Iwo Jima fought during World  War II. Sailors of the ship learned about the history of the battle through war remnants and used the time on the island to honor service members of both forces who lost their lives in the battle. Harpers Ferry with embarked 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) are here to support the 62nd Commemoration of the Battle of Iwo Jima to be held March 14.
