Persian Gulf (Dec. 24, 2004) -- The coastal patrol ship USS Chinook (PC 9) prepares to moor alongside the dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) to conduct a replenishment at sea. Chinook and Harpers Ferry are the Afloat Staging Base (AFSB) for the Essex Expeditionary Strike Group, operating in the Northern Persian Gulf with other multi-national forces in support of the sovereign government of Iraq.
