Patuxent River, Md. (Oct. 12, 2002) -- The low rate initial production aircraft No. 21 is the first production Osprey to join the V-22 flight test program since resumption of flight evaluations in May of this year.  Aircraft No. 21 arrived at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) MV-22 test facility from its final assembly plant and was taken into the hangar after its blades were folded and wings stowed. The V-22 Osprey is a tilt-rotor vertical/short takeoff and landing (VSTOL), multi-mission aircraft developed to fill multi-Service combat operational requirements supporting Marine amphibious operations.
