BAGHDAD-MAY 8, 2003 -- Spc. Eduardo Aguilar, an M1A1 tank driver for A Company, 1st Battalion, 64th Armored, 3rd Infantry Division out of Fort Stewart, Ga., tightens a fastener on a wedge bolt that holds a track on his tank here. Aguilar's unit was one of the first tank companies to enter Baghdad April 5 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Aguilar said his unit encountered heavy resistance as it used Highway 8 for its "Thunder Run" to reach Baghdad International Airport. His company, nicknamed "Wild Bunch," also made dashes into the city center. Aguilar said at one point his tank went airborne as he drove it through concrete barricades at an ambush point. "It was do or die," said Aguilar. Aguilar is from Pharr, Texas, is married and is the proud father of a boy, Isaiah, born April 1.
