A M-1A1 Abrams main battle tank advances across the Kuwaiti desert on Jan. 20, 1998, rehearsing techniques and coordination drills in preparation for Exercise Intrinsic Action 98-1.  Nearly 1,500 U.S. soldiers are participating with members of the Kuwaiti armed forces in Intrinsic Action.  The exercise is intended to strengthen military-to-military relationships, improve readiness and interoperability between U.S. and Kuwaiti armed forces, and to enhance U.S. military force capabilities to deploy quickly to the region.  DoD photo Staff Sgt. Clifton Kershaw, U.S. Army.
