Arabian Gulf (July 7, 2004) -- On board the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), members of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) prepare to board a Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) assigned to Assault Craft Unit Four (ACU-4) headed for a Kuwaiti naval base. Kearsarge is surge deployed to transport elements of the 24th MEU to the Central Command Area of Responsibility in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and the global war on terrorism.
