San Diego, Calif. (May 16, 2003) -- Adm. Vern Clark, Chief of Naval Operations, (CNO) returns salute to the Officer of the Deck of USS Benfold (DDG 65) as he walks by with Rear Adm. Jose Betancourt, Commander, Navy Region Southwest and Capt. Derek Kemp, Commanding Officer of Naval Base San Diego as they head towards the end of the pier for a scheduled "All Hands" Call with surface warship Sailors.
