Pacific Ocean (July 8, 2006) -- Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Omar Rivera
and Aviation Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Francisco Delbarrio operate and
monitor the No. 3 catapult console aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty
Hawk's four steam-powered catapults are used for the launch and
recovery of more than 70 embarked aircraft assigned to Carrier Air Wing
Five (CVW-5) while the ship is under way. Currently under way in the
7th Fleet area of responsibility, Kitty Hawk demonstrates power
projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently
