Indian Ocean (Aug. 18, 2006) -- An F/A-18 Hornet prepares to make an arrested landing on the flight deck aboard the conventionally-powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) during cyclic flight operations. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility, Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier.
