USS KITTY HAWK, Yokosuka, Japan (January 16, 2007) -- Deck Department Sailors inspect USS Kitty Hawk's starboard anchor during routine maintenance on Jan. 16.  Regular maintenance is performed on the detachable links every few years to prevent excess corrosion. Kitty Hawk has two anchors each weighing 30 tons.  The length of anchor chain is 1,080 feet and each link weighs 360 pounds.
