ABOARD USS KITTY HAWK (May 16, 2001) -- A look inside the Hanger Bay of
the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) after dark. Kitty Hawk is currently
participating in Exercise Tandem Thrust 01, which is a combined United
States and Australian military training exercise. This biannual
exercise is being held in the vicinity of Shoal water Bay training
area, Queensland, Australia. More than 27,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airman
and Marines are participating. Canadian units are taking part as
opposing forces. Tandem Thrust is a training exercise for crisis action
planning and execution for contingency response operations. Kitty Hawk
operates out of Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan and is the world's only
