Naval Air Station North Island, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2003) -- USS Nimitz (CVN 68), homeported at Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, Calif., returns home to San Diego.  Nimitz flew more than 6,500 missions, sent more than 4,790,000 e-mails and traveled more than 63,500 nautical miles during her extended eight-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  This was Nimitz's first deployment since their major overhaul in 1997 and since relocating to San Diego in 2001.  U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate  3rd Class Mark A.
