Persian Gulf (June 16, 2005) -- The sun rises over the flight deck of
the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The Carl
Vinson Carrier Strike Group is currently conducting operations in
support of multi-national forces in Iraq and maritime security
operations in order to set the conditions for security and stability in
the region. Vinson will end its deployment with a homeport shift to
Norfolk, Va., and commence a three-year refuel and complex overhaul.
