Norfolk, Va. (Nov. 11, 2005) -- The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) is towed from Pier 14 on board Naval Station Norfolk to the Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard in order to begin the ship’s refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH). During RCOH, Carl Vinson will have her nuclear fuel replenished and will be upgraded with the latest technology enabling the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier to serve for another 25 years.
