Newport News, Va. (Nov. 28, 2006) -- Workers from the Northrop Grumman
Newport News Shipyard prepare to install the starboard anchor chain
aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN
70). The installation of the anchors is one of the many major
projects the ship will go through during the aircraft carrier's
Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH). The RCOH is an extensive yard period
that all Nimitz-class aircraft carriers go through near the mid-point
of their 50-year life cycle. U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication
