Pacific Ocean (March 23, 2006) -- Guided-missile destroyer USS Stethem (DDG 63), Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) JDS Harusame (DD 102), Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), JDS Hatakaze (DDG 171) and JDS Kirishima (DDG 174) change formation during a passing exercise (PASSEX). Lincoln spent three days conducting exercises with JMDSF and took part in an officer exchange program as part of a passing exercise.
