At sea with USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) Dec. 18, 2002 -- The Military Sealift Command auxiliary combat stores ship USNS Spica (T-AFS 9) approaches the Truman.  Underway Replenishment is the method by which provisions, ammunition and fuel are transferred from one ship to another at sea. The technique enables a fleet or naval formation to remain at sea for prolonged periods of time. Harry S. Truman is on a regularly scheduled deployment, conducting missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 2nd Class John L. Beeman.  (RELEASED)
