Ash Shuaybah, Kuwait (Aug. 8, 2004) -- The amphibious transport dock USS Shreveport (LPD 12) arrives in Kuwait, joining the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) to backload Marines and cargo attached to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable. Wasp, Shreveport, and the 22nd MEU have been deployed since February as part of Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG-2) operating in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
