Naval Support Activity New Orleans, La (April 3, 2007) -- The USS New Orleans (LPD-18) departs from the Naval Support Activity New Orleans with the assistance of three tug boats.  The New Orleans stayed at the NSA for just over three weeks to complete training, certifications, and maintenance before departing on its maiden cruise to its home port in San Diego.  The New Orleans is the Navy’s newest ship and was built in Avondale, Louisiana and christened in New Orleans on 10 March 2007.  U.S. Navy photo by Sam Shore (RELEASED)
