San Diego (Feb. 15, 2006) -- Family members and friends wave goodbye to
crewmembers aboard USS Germantown (LSD 42), as the ship departs for a
scheduled six-month deployment. More than 3,000 servicemembers
departed as part of Expeditionary Strike Group Three (ESG 3), which
includes USS Peleliu, USS Ogden (LPD 5), and USS Germantown (LSD 42).
The strike group is also comprised of Amphibious Squadron 3, the 11th
Marine Expeditionary Unit, Tactical Air Control Squadron 11, and
